TINY ACTION FOR BIG CHANGE- THINK LIGHT!
Happy new week to you! I’m thinking of us all today on our journey together and wondering, how’s it flying? Are you sailing on newfound wings? Does your load feel too heavy right now to even get on the runway much less be cleared for take- off? Whether you feel light or heavy in this moment, haven’t we all been there?
I love this quote from St. Exupery, “She who would travel happily must travel light.”
So true. And a beautiful way to keep it simple. But how do we do it?
Here’s my thought on that and an amazing GPS system I’d like to recommend that has helped me transform the course and quality of my life over these past three years. It’s free, incredibly easy to use, completely and uniquely customized to you and needs no installation. That’s because it already exists within each of us. As do all of our journeys.
And all you have to do to make it work is ask yourself, “does this feel heavy to me or does it feel light?”
Do I turn right or go left?
Should I accept this party invitation?
Believe in my own thought? That idea? (Especially the ones I’m writing here)
Go out with this man?
Trust this choice for my children?
Get into another conversation?
Take myself out to the movies?
Something that’s true to you will make you feel lighter.
What’s not true always makes us feel heavier.
Even if we may be afraid of the answers we get.
Even if we can’t change the circumstances but we can choose how we perceive them.
Even if it takes a while to start hearing any answers at all.
Even if what’s true for somebody else doesn’t agree with what’s true for us.
Even if we are skeptical of a process so simple it can stop us from struggling and suffering with each decision and thought at any minute in our day.
If it’s true for you it’s likely light to you.
And soon it’s hard to deny for you. Light feels right. It’s true. Life comes with greater ease.
The truth of my life today is that I have become much lighter mentally and spiritually. Many who see me remark how I have changed. Yes, I have. The difference is I travel light. I think light.
When it comes to a decision, if it feels heavy to me I know it’s wrong for me. If it feels light it is true and right. Just for me. Doesn’t mean I have a life without problems. But the problems I have I live through with more ease and keep more in their proper proportion.
So instead of asking “do I look heavy in this? I ask does this decision make me feel heavy or does it make me feel light?
So this week my tiny action for big change is to asking ourselves, does this feel heavy or light?
Give it a little practice. Bless it with your patience. And please let me hear from you what you discover. How you’re flying!
With grace and gratitude,
Cristina
Hi Christina! I’ve been missing you on QVC! What have you been doing? Did you leave Philosophy? Just wanted you to know us girls are really missing you!
Wonderful idea and hopefully an encouragement for everyone! As a Christian I call this following peace and listening to the Holy Spirit. Listening to your inner voice and embracing the “light” choice, EVEN if you have fear about it, is a wonderful next step on our journeys.
Hi Nancy, I agree, God is not the author of confusion…thanks
Thank you for your insight Cristina. Truth be told I need to take your advice and become lighter mentally and spiritually. The “heaviness has been taking it’s toll for a while now, mentally and physicaly. It’s difficult, especially when you are carrying a burden and feeling “heavy” so that someone you love can feel “light”. You make a decision thinking it’s the right one and then start to wonder if you’ve made a huge, life altering mistake. It’s difficult to feel “light” when in your heart you don’t know which decision is the right one….they all seem wrong, and you feel as if there is no where left to turn. I’m just toughing it out with the decison we made and hope that God will watch over my husband and I and that everything will work out for us. Thank you again Cristina. I will certainly try to put your philosophy into practice for myself.
i LOVE THIS. THANK YOU. I HOPE TO BE ABLE TO TRY TO KEEP IT THIS SIMPLE AND I KNOW THIS FEELS RIGHT.
Thank you for this. It’s inspiring and good to try to practice. I changed jobs in December. I was reluctant to do it but I too feel lighter, at least better, for making the decision to move on. I have noticed that I break in to smiles and giggle more easily and more often because I am just learning to let go.
Thank you each time for sharing your insights and wisdom. I guess I have always been for some wierd reason fearful of things getting too easy. I’m trying this method now. I always learn things from you.
Thanks Cristina, this is so helpful and makes SO much sense. Trusting my instincts.
